The World Is Raw

Denver Comic Con

My first time at Denver Comic Con was so much fun and it all went off without a hitch. I spent two solid days at Colorado Convention Center taking photos of everything, especially the cosplayers. I met Bruce Campbell and I attended a Star Trek TNG reunion panel that was hosted by William Shatner. In the end, I was very impressed just how big and grand this three year old con is.

Goodbye Market Street Station

After 30 years of service, Market Street Station has been closed. All the bus and train service is now running out of Union Station. This is a very welcome changed for me since Market had become a very stinky place to wait for a bus. The new bathroom stalls in Union Station have doors!

Denver Public Art

Over 25 years ago Denver signed the Public Art Ordinance which mandates that art be incorporated into every city project with a budget of over $1 million. The law requires that one percent of the budget be set aside to make the project beautiful, not just utilitarian. The style, art and aesthetics of the projects themselves are all taken into account from the very first moment of design.

Coronado Then And Now

I spent a lot of time on Coronado during my final 3 years in San Diego. I have lots of photos that cover that time frame, so I was able to document some of the changes that happened while I was there. Most notably was the reopening of the island's movie theater.
